1.Proper Use of Broach

Correct use andstorage can extend the service life of broach. The following points should bepaid attention to commonly:-www.2139.com

①-Before using, clean up the anti-rust oil on new broaches, check ifbroach teeth are sharp, and grind with an oilstone to remove bumps or open thechip separation groove at bumps to remove them in case of gap or broken blade.The oilstone shall move in the direction consistent with the working direction,namely, move to the shank of broach, without return or rotation for grinding.

When broaching internal surface, the broaching length shall not exceedthe defined scope of broach, or the broach blade will be broken or the broachwill be broken up; however the broaching length shall not be too small, so asto ensure the working teeth are not less than 3 when broaching to keep smoothand stable broaching.

Before broaching, adjust the tool post on broachingmachine to be concentric with the work piece.  When the gap between work piece hole and frontpilot of the broach is big, the workpiece shall be moved to the top of thebroach tooth in accordance with the hole diameter to start broaching,otherwisethere will be a danger of hole deviation and breaking the broach.

Before broaching, the broach shall be flushed or wetted with cutting fluid to further remove left cutting scraps or other dirt attached on broach teeth and lubricate broach teeth.
During the broaching process, cutting fluid shall not only be powerfully injected on broach teeth, but also be sufficiently cooled on the external surface of workpieces. In case of higher requirements for the workpiece surface roughness, it is suggested to use the emulsion with higher concentration (about 20%-25% is emulsion ointment and the other is water).

When the sizing teeth th of the broach start to work ,the work piece may fall because of its dead weight. The heavier the work piece is , the more it falls , thus causing the bending of the broach . If the work piece is light, it shall be held with hands,otherwise put an iron supporter under the work piece in advance , or push the work piece against the broaching machine baffle with a laminate to avoid the falling of the work piece.

During thebroaching process, regularly observe the surface quality of workpieces broachedand the worn condition of broach, and pay attention to timely repair and grindthe broach. Repair and grind the broach in case it has been worn to thepermissible wear limit, not only grind with the oilstone. The broaching mustnot be continued in case of the blade of any broach tooth broken, because it willcause the load of the latter tooth multiplied and then the blade of the latterone broken and even the broach broken up. For such case, the broach tooth withbroken blade shall be rubbed off, and then the rise per tooth shall bedistributed to other teeth to continue using the broach. 

After broaching one workpiece, use a copper brush to remove chips on broach teeth forward only. Do not use steel brush or cotton yarn, to avoid cotton yarn fibers clinging to broach teeth or cut hands. If it's difficult to remove chips attached on broach teeth with a brush, users can wipe them off slightly with an oilstone and pay attention to keep the geometrical shape and the sharp edge of the broach unchanged.

During the broaching process, regularly check the change of the gauge hand on the broach. If the hand goes up straightly, the machine tool shall be stopped and checked to prevent the broach damaged.

⑪-澳门太阳城集团2007Insufficient tension of broacher, workpiece off-center or offset will cause the broacher with heavy noises and even the slide stopped moving, for which the broach may be stuck in the workpiece, and users shall immediately stop and check the machine tool. If it is specific that the cause is insufficient tension of broacher, users shall try to increase the tension and pull again; if the broach is stuck in the workpiece, users shall take off the broach with the workpiece and install them on the milling machine to longitudinally divide the workpiece and save the broach (this method must be used especially when the broach is bended). For broaching round holes, since milling cutter teeth are easy to collide with broach teeth when milling, they shall be installed on the machine tool to use the cut-off tool to horizontally cut off the workpiece or cut to a certain depth and then be broached, which can also save the broach. In any case, pay special attention to not use a hammer or a press machine to dismount the workpiece by force, or the blade of broach teeth must be broken.

After use, thebroach shall be hanged vertically to prevent broach teeth connecting with anymetal object (including other broaches)
